This award is open to all organisations, including Social Enterprises from all sectors. It recognises organisations that seek to enhance access to social or economic opportunities for the people who live in the local community in which the organisation operates.

Those involving opportunities through employment for local disabled or disadvantaged people would be welcome but could also include initiatives around volunteering, on-site childcare provision, community access to its facilities or green campaigns to improve the environment. Consideration will be given to how the initiatives are co-ordinated, delivered, sustained, recorded, promoted, and particularly how they are measured and the resulting impact on the community.
